Recording Skype onto your computer

Hi,
I know this is strictly a mainstream issue but still ...

Does anyone know it it's possible to record skype conversations onto the computer? I have the digital editor Sound Forge but I don't see how it can happen as at any one time, either my mic or my line in setting has to be on. They can't be on together at the same time. Any thoughts? ...

Thanks in advance ...

I know there's something called Call Recorder cause I use it with the Mac. However, I'm not sure if it's available for Windows or if it'll record voice chats that aren't recorded on Voice Mail. However, there is one called Audiojack Pro and a free one called TapeDeck wich is excellent and would meet your needs nicely, but again, not Windows compatible. Maybe, you could use Audacity now that I think about it or just use a patch cord, a regular tape recorder and headphones.

You can use total recorder to record skype calls, but you must make sure what you hear is checked, or as it's known as stereo mix in other soundcards. Also make sure the mute checkbox for microphone is unchecked in playback settings under volume control. You can also use callburner to record calls on skype as well.

Yes it is, with both total recorder, and with callburner.

Oh my Gods. I don't know how that happened and why my posts for a completely different topic wound up in here. I looked yesterday in the correct one and had to repost them and just saw this now. I'm gonna try to contact a cl to have this removed, but if anyone beats me to it that would be great. Truly sorry for the mix-up.

Hay guys. You can use a program called call graph, and it's totally free. It sits happily in your system tray so you can control the recording from there.

Pamela for skype will do this. That's what it's made for. There's a free version, but I went on and got the pro version, which was 36 US dollars, I think. I love it. It has its own voicemail, and you can personalize it. For example, if you have a best friend and you want skype to always answer that friend's call, but not auto answer anyone else's calls, Pamela can do this. It has a podcaster too.

I'll delete the posts, but you will have to repost them if you want them in the proper category. As for skype recording, total recorder will record both you and the other caller, if, as was stated earlier, stereo mix is checked. As for pamela, I'll check that out, it sounds cool.

I usually use total recorder, but like scott will be checking out pamela also.

or try powergrammo or something like that.
google for it. It'll ask for registration every startup, but it has lots of features - including recording, autoreplies, answering machine and sharing music with callers.

MX Skype recorder is great for a simple recorder. Can also record googletalk, and yahoo.

I've used SAM Skype Answering Machine, and that seems to work just fine.

I'm pretty impressed with this call graph program. I have tried Sam before, but it seemed too complex for me at the time. It's been years ago though.

I use CallGraph for recording my Skype calls. As for auto-answering, there's a solution if you have the JAWS scripts for Skype and you're willing to mess with the skypewatch.jss file. If anybody wants to do this, just PM me and I'll send you the instructions and the necessary code to do this. The code is my own, so don't worry about copyright issues and the like.

Hey all,
I use CallGraph. you do not need to turn on Stereo Mix to get it to work. Just tell Skype to allow CallGraph.

Yeah, and you'll probably have to tell your firefwall to allow CallGraph access to the Internet. Works great, I use it.

Y do u need to do anything with jaws scrpts for autoanswer? THeirs an option in the skype options to have it do that for u.

Post 19 by TylerK (This site is so "educational") on Sunday, 10-Aug-2008 19:17:46

The option lets you autoanswer either all calls or no calls, but what if you want to answer some calls but not others? The only way I know of to do this right now is to use the JAWS scripting language, and this works best if you have the Skype scripts installed.

Call Graph is good. You have to let skype have access to the program. That can be done in the skype options.
